getting to whidbey island

captain whidbey inn is located near coupeville, a town on whidbey island in the puget sound. it’s approximately two hours from seatac airport, and 90 minutes from seattle by car. traffic and ferries get much busier on friday afternoons, so whichever route you take, we would recommend getting an earlier start on friday.

there are several ways to get to captain whidbey once you land at seatac international airport—two by car, one including a ferry, and one, for the less conventional and very adventurous, by seaplane.

option a

take the mukilteo car ferry from the mainland to whidbey island. it’s a beautiful, 20-minute ride and a great taste of the northwest. while it depends on the wait time for the ferry, this is usually the fastest option. the mukilteo route doesn’t accept reservations, but you can check the status here.

option b

drive around the island over the deception pass bridge. it’s a beautiful drive, especially when the tulips are blooming in the skagit valley (and they just may be!).

option c

take a seaplane from downtown seattle directly to the captain whidbey dock. it’s about a 20-minute flight. bookings available for groups of 6-10. for pricing or to book a plane please call 425-482-2211, or visit kenmore air’s website.

staying at captain whidbey inn
