hits for the road
find routes, pit stops, and a playlist with that friday feeling. 🤍
folks, it’s almost time to head out to whidbey!
whether you’re coming all the way from the east coast or starting in seattle, we’re beyond grateful that you’re making the journey to party on a quirky island with us.
so buckle up, get yourself a large fountain diet coke, and turn up the tunes. the fun starts with the ignition.

there are two ways to get to whidbey island. both are great. both require a car. scout your route with travel time in mind, and check the state of washington real-time travel data page for traffic updates.
by ferry ⛴️
drive onto the mukilteo car ferry. it’s a beautiful, 20-minute ride and a great taste of the northwest. while it depends on the wait time for the ferry, this is usually the fastest option. the mukilteo route doesn’t accept reservations, but you can check the status here.
our favorite stops along this route:
saint bread in seattle for incredible pastries and water views
ivar’s mukilteo landing for a very pnw seafood lunch(or just an ice cream cone, which is very much not seafood)
madrona supply co, for cute finds right off the ferry on whidbey
greenbank pantry and deli for really, really good sandwiches and other fun treats
by bridge 🚙
drive north around the island and cross over the impressive deception pass bridge. it’s a beautiful drive that takes you from seattle into the beautiful skagit valley. lucky for us, tulip festival is in full swing and spans miles of farmland. definitely worth seeing!
our favorite stops along this route:
the co-op in mt. vernon for co-op stuff, and tasty hot food.
this random tulip farm that’s only $15 per car to walk through (there are plenty of other, maybe better options).
the town of la conner: tiny boardwalk, nice shops, a great pub.
deception pass state park——it’s the state’s most-visited!
